Now, slower please...

Bra left too long on road, expanded to D-cup. Big Bright Head thinks Kuching is a bit too hot nowadays.

ARCHIDEX08 - Part 4

I wonder how many parts left, I am getting lazier. Anyways, more pictures.

Datum KL

Finally an entry on the event itself. Some asked "What is ARCHIDEX08? You ran out of ideas to name your post?" LOL.

Anyways, the response to Archidex08 was overwhelming. More than 1500 participants from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines and other countries. Architects, drafters, developers, and students, like me, and some unknown people, crowded the foyer of Plenary Hall, Kuala Lumpur Convention Center on the 4th and 5th July 2008.

Coffee or tea...

Such conference gave me a different perspective to where I am currently. I wonder if I am good enough, can I survive, am I on the right track? You know the feeling of frog inside a coconut? I felt that I am that frog, suddenly thrown out in the middle of the city. When I am actually surrounded by people who has been in the field longer than I am, for some reason, it worries me. What worries me is, will I be able to stand out from the crowd and make a difference, or I will be put together, insignificantly together with the rest of the crowd? Sigh. Let me side track a bit...

Exam results will be released in exactly a week from today!

The thought of collecting my results... Freaky. Archi world is so competitive and political. I have been repeatedly stamped with the label kiasu by my classmates and some lecturers. I was just doing what I can, and I am sure, I definitely have a healthy level of competitiveness. Kiasuness is good. It makes you work harder to achieve better and improve yourself. It makes you aim higher. People who are not kiasu is just not motivated and lazy. Sorry, no offence. To me, it is either swim or sink. Why not strive for excellence? However, knowledge is meant to be shared. Kiasu does not mean being selfish and pulling out dirty tricks just to surpass someone is a no-no. Healthy competition, fair and square. Cheating is the worse thing someone can do. Cheat and you will be cheated.

Okay, back to topic.

The lecture hall is so comfy. Unlike other lectures I attended, the lectures are very well organized and of international standard. Quiet, comfortable seat, no chatterbox, uh... a bit too cold, the perfect combination to nap. Haha...

As you may have noticed by now, the theme for the DATUM this year is "DISTINCTION". As I mentioned earlier, architecture students should strive hardest for excellence. The theme distinction was chosen because it conveys outstanding quality of excellence, uniqueness, and of distinctive execution.

In this gathering of great minds around the world, through the discourse arising from the presentations, questions were debated and clarified. The speakers were the current heroes of architecture from their respective region, and each of them has stood out from the rest, to share their distinctive philosophy and design.

Some of the speakers were really boring, though their ideas and designs were impressive. It was difficult to stay awake when it's so dark and comfortable. It felt like sitting in premier class cinema. LOL. Azie, this picture is for you...

Absolute Boyfriend

No, this entry is not about my boyfriend or other's boyfriend.

Zettai Kareshi or known as Absolute Boyfriend is one of the many doramas that I watched during the holiday. For some reason, the dorama reminds me of Chobits.

This dorama is about robot. Noticed I said robot, without the 's'? Robot-san is the main character.

The main character, Tenjo Night, is a perfect humanoid. Therefore you can be relieved that the dorama revolves around 'human' liking human. Not some mechanical looking device. Developed and programmed to be completely devoted to his lover, his sole existence is to love. I wonder if such lover robot really exist. But how can such forbidden love be permitted?

The dorama has no doubt, one of the best theme song, Okaeri which means welcome back, by Ayaka. I read somewhere that Ayaka was actually by the manga artist of Zettai Kareshi asked to write a song for the dorama.

Download here.
Remember to support the artist and buy her album if you really like it!

Japanese dramas never fail to wet my keyboard. Zettai Kareshi is a touching love story. I give it a 7 out of 10.

Take care, Lissa

I guess yesterday's night will be my last outing with Lissa and other Kosongers until long.

Lissa has been my closest and bestest best friend over the years. Being a Sagittarius like me, she was always there when I needed her, listening to my problems while I listen to hers. It was always fun. We are so close, we could be bi.

Knowing that I will not see her for the coming days, I mean, months, the remaining Kosongers at Kuching had a night's out.

No one will ask me out for movie...
No one will bring me out till late...
No one will go window shopping with me...
No one will bring me to Senso...
No one to bi with...

Lissa, I will be lonely.

Jakun never tried 1901

And was pretty trilled over big sausages

I have never felt so excited meeting up with a friend. Kelvin and Chris are irreplaceable.

flo.rence.
Kelvin and I at KLCC

I was so excited that I literally flung myself at him when I saw him.

Chris was busy so Kelvin came alone. I know... He must be really excited to actually come all the way alone without Chris to see me. Happy.

Oh wait, we were not alone. Jakun with sausages was tailing us.

I was in the mood for Japanese food and thus Kelvin suggested that we should try Saeke Sushi for dinner.

flo.rence.
Saeke Sushi

Saeke Sushi is something like the Sushi King we have in The Spring or Boulevard, Kuching. The typical sushi-on-conveyor-belt. However, Saeke Sushi's service is more high tech. You can place your orders through interactive menu online.

flo.rence.
How to place orders

Every table has a dumb terminal where you can place your order and check your order status. With a few clicks, your order will appear at the kitchen, and before you know it, your food is on your table. No more hassle of waiting for waiters to take orders. DIY.

flo.rence.

The whole system reminds me of the assignment we had to do for Software Engineering class back in college.

The best way to savor sushi is with a cup of hot green tea. They even encouraged people to make their own tea

The curry rice is a lot better than what I had in Sushi King. It was delicious, not too spicy and presentable.

Honestly I was worried that I could not get along with Kel after not seeing him for a year. But thank goodness, nothing can beat our friendship.

Sony Ericsson W380i

This month, I am on gadget craze.

After owning a Sony Cybershot DSC-T2, I have gotten myself another half Sony device.

dance
Sony Ericsson W380i

I was looking for a square clamshell phone similar to what Shun Oguri used in Hana Yori Dango.

dance
I have fetish for white gadgets...

The Japanese dramas and animes are always showing hot guys and hot girls using those square clamshell phones. Chamshell phones make them more chic. Unfortunately they only release these beautiful babies to Japan only. The above phone is actually one of the phones by Sony Ericsson. I am tired of bar phones! They are too plain and not chic enough for me.

So the closest I can get is W380.

dance
Unfortunately W380 does not come in white

It is rather disappointing because W380 only comes in purple, black and grey.

The phone is quite thin, with flat keypads. The screen is rather small and it comes with a mediocre 1.3 megapixel camera.

Despite it's mediocre feature, I am really satisfied with the overall performance and design.

What matters more, now I can flip my gadget in public.

Man, I feel so stylish.

ARCHIDEX08 - Part 2

Part 2 came faster than I thought it would. LOL...

Upon reaching KL an hour late from schedule, Terence and I took KL-Express down to KL Sentral.

flo.rence.
KL-Express, 29 minutes from KLIA to KL Sentral

I dropped by at Terence's hotel, Crown Princess 5-star hotel, before heading to my own.

flo.rence.
Crown Princess Lobby

The elevator is a human eater. When I was about to exit the elevator, the door panels started to close and hit me so hard that I almost fell. The accident caused my right hand and leg to bruise. Evil elevator.

flo.rence.
Crown Princess Room

The room was below par for a 5-star hotel standard. It was too small, the furnishing was so- so, and its interior design needs help. Crown Princess can do better.

flo.rence.
The relatively small washroom added to Terence's disappointment.

flo.rence.
Dirty washroom, cracked tiles. Poorly maintained

The Ascott on the other hand was luxuriously furnished and spacious. The suites are completely equipped with home entertainment system such as DVD, VCD player and TV with satellite reception. There were also iron and ironing board provided. The studio I stayed in was a three-bedrooms residence with three washrooms, a living room, dining area and fully equipped kitchen. Late at night, I would enjoy KL night scenery out at the balcony. Best of all, The Ascott is only walking distance to KL Convention Center.
