ARCHIDEX08 - Part 1

Was going to blog on ARCHIDEX08 sooner but got lazy and here goes nothing...

I left for KL on 3rd July morning and was extremely excited as it will be my first visit after leaving KL for almost a year...

I was anticipating to meet up with my two best buddies in KL, Chris and Kel.

flo.rence.
This is Chris and Kel before I left KL... I was wondering if they will still look the same after a year? Yes, I know I looked so different back then XD

Of course, my main purpose was to attend ARCHIDEX08... And at the same time, meeting up with old friends. But honestly, I feel that the real purpose is the later. HEHE

My boarding pass...

Instead of traveling with the usual AirAsia, I was lucky enough to get 0 Fare from MAS. Even though AirAsia tickets will still come much cheaper compared to MAS's 0 Fare, I wanted to avoid any possibility of having my flights delayed. With AirAsia famous flight-delaying case, I went for MAS.

To my chagrin, MAS delayed my flight for an hour. My other colleagues reached KL without delay using AirAsia. Way to go, MAS.

This time, instead of traveling alone like I always did for 2 years, I traveled with one of my college mates which also happened to be going to ARCHIDEX08.

Since Malaysia Airlines started on cost-cutting measures, they no longer serve hot food on the Kuching-KL flights anymore.

I actually like the design for the cold boxed sets served. Feels like high class lunch box

flo.rence.
Water, fruits, fruit cake, green kuih which I don't know the name...

flo.rence.
Some western style chicken rice... Can't remember what it is called

flo.rence.
I liked this green coloured cookie. It was delicious and not too sweet

Leftovers...

The flight attendants are more helpful, hardworking and (maybe) prettier than AirAsia's flight attendants. I like the fact that I can actually check in my luggage at KL Sentral without worrying if my luggage will exceed the weight limit since I will be doing light shopping during Mega Sale.

Sony Cybershot DSC-T2

I will be flying to KL tomorrow with my new toy, the Sony Cybershot DSC-T2 in my backpack.

My new Cybershot camera is going to replace my long lost Canon camera. My parents were skeptical to fork out money for me ever since I lost my three months old Canon IXUS i7.

All these while I have been snapping pictures with my SE K800 for my blog. As for assignments, I have been bringing my bulky SLR camera around and I am so not going to carry it all the way to KL. Though it's professional, it is definitely bulky and uncool.

I wanted something chic and portable.

dance
Why they give me towel as a free gift? Camera can bring into shower ah?

I managed to persuade my parents to fork out a total amount of RM1000 for my new gadget. RM999 for DSC-T2 and RM1 for carpark fee at The Spring.

There were 5 colours to pick from; pink, blue, black, white and green. I went for white, my favourite colour ^^

My baby!

dance
Now I can snap away with just a tap on the touch screen!

The camera comes with a free pouch. I did not want a white one since it will look really ugly when it gets dirty. And black pouch is too common for my liking.

Pink pouch

I attached a strap to it... Just in case I drop it

I must be really careful not to lost it this time. My parents told me to chain it with a metal chain =__=

Oh dear...

TM Karnival

TM once again organized a very successful an event in Kuching to spread the word of their excellent Streamyx services. TM Karnival was held at Wisma Hopoh on the 28 June Saturday.

I did not know about the event until my mum asked me to send my youngest sister to participate in one of their activities, colouring competition.

Reaching Wisma Hopoh, illegal parkings by the roadside have caused massive jam. It was a toll on me since I have very little tolerance to slow traffic. My annoying sister add to my already boiling temper and thus, I have no good review on the event. Such a biased statement. LOL

dance
The response was overwhelming. There was so many primary school students crowding under a tiny tent just for a colouring competition

Why would anyone spend their Saturday afternoon under the hot sun to watch kids colour?! There is no proper facilities provided. No tables or chairs. The only considerate thing the organizer did was to put a fan there, which of course did not help much under such weather. These poor children was sitting on the floor, cramped like sardin and was forced encouraged to produce good piece of artwork. Not far away from the tent was some unknown performer/ singer singing. It was heat + sweat + crowd + noise, I almost snapped.

It was so crowded that some of these kids had to sit outside the tent. Some parents were more prepared, they actually brought along their portable table and chair for their kids.

dance
So fortunate... My sister had to be sandwiched together with the rest of the kids.

dance
Poor girl tired because of hot weather

dance
TM worker managed to find his way to the pool of school children to distribute freebies. I hope he did not injure anyone

TM should provide better venue next time.

Yen's 21st

I realised that I do not write blogs on the actual date of an event. Blame it on my habit of procrastinating. Even our clique's gathering is very so often being postponed one day to another.

We celebrated Yen Hung's 21st birthday last Thursday at Food & Tea, The Spring. However, her actual birthday falls on the 23rd June.

dance
The narcissistic Lissa and I managed to snap a picture *in the changing room again* before heading off to Yen Hung's gathering.

The birthday gathering was humbly attended by...
dance
Lissa, Luan and myself

I strongly believed that the 3 of us who gathered must be suffering from the disease of eng-ness. We took ages to finally ordered something simple from the overwhelming list of food served.

Flo : I have no idea what to eat... *frowns*
Lissa : Me too...
Yen : We shall STUDY the menu till Luan arrives.
Lissa : Yes, we should...
Flo : I still have no idea what to eat... *flips menu aimlessly*
Lissa : Yes, me too...
Yen : Do you noticed that we actually reviewed all the food on the menu?

Half of the time, I was flipping through the menu, not knowing what to order. It was so frustrating!

And finally when Luan arrives, I just placed my order according to me-ni-me-ni-ma-ni-mo...

dance
Cheese baked rice with chicken... Which I shared with Lissa

dancedance
Served with soup and gui ling kao which I dislike

dance
Yen ordered some fried rice

Luan watched us eat since she had dinner at home.

dance
I ordered SuperStar which is some strawberry drink, Yen Hung had a jug of watermelon juice and Lissa had some HK drink called YingYong

dance
It was a simple celebration. No funky or exotic cakes. No candles.

We later head to Desserts and add further to our already full stomach and talked crap for god knows how long.

dance
I had chocolate oreo

I'm going to miss all of you when you're not around... I wonder when is the next gathering...

Sneak Peak

I trespassed my college!

Okay, not exactly.

I went back to college last week during holiday. It was so empty with the signs "No Entry to Students". Honestly, I do not know what the lecturers are guarding. But I sneaked into Semester 5 Architecture and Interior Design class and snap a few pictures of their work.

The classroom that I entered... *evil laughter*
